On 27 October 2025, DECIDE partners met in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, for an in-person exploitation workshop focused on how the project’s results and decision-support tools can be taken forward beyond the project lifetime.
This Amsterdam session was the second of two exploitation workshops organised during the final year of DECIDE. It followed an initial workshop held in June 2025 during the DECIDE General Assembly in Uppsala, Sweden, and provided a practical opportunity to further refine the consortium’s thinking, priorities and next steps.
Led by Royal GD, partners continued working towards a shared exploitation strategy and roadmap to support both non-commercial and commercial use of the DECIDE tools. The objective is to help ensure that the tools remain sustainable, viable and fit for real-world uptake in the short to midterm, helping to maximise their longer-term impact.
During the Amsterdam workshop, partners used structured, interactive formats to capture key exploitation needs and opportunities, including:
- Storytelling exercises
- Business Model Canvas
- Short- and long-term planning through an exploitation SWOT
Participants emphasised the value of being challenged to look beyond scientific development and consider what is needed to keep DECIDE results active after the project:
🔵“The business canvas day was challenging and a little out of my comfort zone because I prefer to think about the science behind my tool. However, I believe it’s essential to think beyond science to keep the tool alive beyond the project.”
Annette Boerlage
🔵“This was a day well spent. It made me realise that I was stuck in one track for the exploitation. I just had to be challenged a bit to change my mindset and see new opportunities. Now if feel more inspired about the next steps that we need to take.”
Jenny Frössling
The outcomes from the two exploitation workshops will be consolidated in an internal DECIDE deliverable in December 2025. This deliverable will be used internally by the consortium to guide the final exploitation actions, align responsibilities and support post-project planning for the DECIDE tools.
