DECIDE at ISESSAH 2025 in Utrecht

On 16-19 October 2025, our DECIDE partners attended the International Society for Economics and Social Sciences of Animal Health (ISESSAH) Conference 2025 in Utrecht, the Netherlands.

This year’s theme focused on “towards multiple burden animal health decision making.” We are proud to share that our DECIDE consortium member, Wilma Steeneveld, Utrecht University, led the local organising committee for this year’s event.

ISESSAH 2025, opened by Wilma, centred on the multiple burdens of animal health and methods for quantifying these burdens.

This successful event brought together around 85 participants. The presence of DECIDE H2020 was also strong, featuring six presentations from our project members:

🔵The role of data-based tool design in decision-making about an infectious disease in pigs – Xiao Zhou

🔵Estimating disease burden in Polish broiler flocks using production data – Camille Delavenne

🔵The cost and benefit of controlling pancreas disease of farmed Atlantic salmon in Norway – Cecilie Walde

🔵Modeling the multifaceted burden of Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae infection on a Dutch pig fattening farm – Marloes Boeters

🔵Strategic behaviours and therapeutic decisions against bovine respiratory diseases: a farmer’s dilemma – Manon Roustit

🔵Quantifying the welfare burden of bovine respiratory disease on dairy calves: insights from expert elicitation – Francesca Zaghen
